“Celadon that cracks on purpose, and a basket that will outlast the house.”
Two trips: Bangkok in the wet season, Chiang Mai after it. The celadon glaze is crazed deliberately — a fine web of cracks that darkens with use, and the whole reason to buy the cup. The rattan baskets come from a village north of the city, where the frames are bent over an open fire.
