“Arrive at eight and the bazaar is a workshop; by ten it is a market.”

One long trip, six weeks, mostly Istanbul. The copper is beaten in a courtyard behind the Grand Bazaar by men who start at seven and stop for tea at nine. The glass comes from a small furnace at Beykoz. Everything is priced by weight first and hours second, which we have decided is fair.
